Week 20

Week 20 was short due to two ice days. We extended last week's learning on Monday from Friday's ice day too,  and we were out on Tuesday for ice too, so we had 3 days of learning in this week's pictures. There are fewer pictures.

Our focus book this week was Mole and Baby Bird. We worked on beginning, middle and end of the story. Our sight word was "yes".

We also learned about our neighborhood and community workers. We talked about jobs and why people have to work for a living.

In science, we began learning about living and non-living things. We made a list of characteristics of what we thought was living  and crossed out the items that were inaccurate.

After reading some books and watching a powerpoint show, we learned a lot about the characteristics of living things.

We made a chart of these characteristics of living things and asked questions to see if they were living or non-living.

We applied these questions to an item that Mrs. Langham gave us and wrote about it in our science journals.

We learned about how other cultures celebrate holidays and traditions. Today is Chinese New Year. Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Some even made dragons for good luck!
