Week 25

Well, it was the week before spring break, and what a crazy week it was. For me, it started off that way with my husband breaking his wrist. Not only did I have a sub this week, we had so many extra-curricular activities. We had Ms. Phillips come and do a counseling lesson. We met with our buddies. We made our duck headbands for the fine arts festival, we had a special concert assembly, Hill Harbor and Tile Time. I have also been doing a lot of testing for our next report card.

We focused on two letters this week, Bb and Ll. We learned them with the help of Benjamin Bunny and Larry Lion. Our sight words this week were "up", "and" and "what".

Our focus book of the week was In the Yard. We have been working on main idea.

We read the book Q is for Duck and we learned that Q is for duck because they quack. The students had fun creating their own page for this book by following the pattern in the book.

We had fun celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday by reading some of his classics.

We worked on birthday books too.

In math, we have continued working on addition. We read the book Mouse Counts and practiced using manipulatives to add mice to the jar. We represented them on paper too. We have been learning +1 and +2 this week. The students made flash cards too. We will be learning games to help us practice these skills.

Here is the bluegrass band, Wood and Wire. They performed for our school.

Here we are before the Fine Arts Festival started. We had fun making our duck headbands. I wasn't able to get any shots while they were singing as it was very crowded. I know several of you were taking pictures and shooting videos. I hope you got some great shots and enjoyed their performance. They did great!

Have a wonderful and relaxing spring break!
