Week 27

What another busy week! We've had the excitement of book fair this week. The children have really enjoyed getting books from the book fair. Nothing is better than the gift of a book. I'm really proud of our readers. They have been working hard and EVERY student is already reading on an end of the year kindergarten level or higher!

Our focus letter this week is Kk. Katy the Kangaroo helped us learn this letter. Our sight words were "little" and "said".

Our focus book was Oak Trees. The children are quickly identifying features in a non-fiction book.

We enjoyed some new word work centers this week too!

Using the iPad is always a fun thing to do too.

In math, we are continuing on with our addition word problems and working on factors of ten. Here are some new math work stations that we enjoyed playing this week.

In science, we began a unit on rocks. This has been a big hit with the class. We read about rocks.

We brought in rocks from home and found some on the playground. Then we wrote about their physical characteristics in our science journal.

We looked at fossils.

We were very excited to explore geodes!

In social studies, we started learning about landforms.

After learning so much about them, we created our own landforms. Aren't they incredible!

We also got to enjoy a visit from Ms. Phillips. She talked to us about rules.

Report cards went home today. Please remember to sign and return the yellow envelope. Have a great weekend!
